About the company

I started Clean Water Careers with the intention of providing additional training materials to augment the education of the aspiring water treatment professional. I also wanted to bring more awareness to the general public that these jobs exist and provide a career which allows a person to be a steward to their community and the environment around them while getting paid a decent wage.

My intent at this point is to produce math exercise books that target the wastewater treatment operator certification exams offered by the California State Water Resources Control Board. When I was studying for these exams, I noticed that I often had to pay several hundred dollars for training materials with relatively limited problem sets and I would end up having to solve the same problems over and over. My goal is to provide an affordable way for aspiring operators get more reps in as they prepare for their exams. I’ll augment the learning in these math exercise books with step-by-step videos which will be posted on youtube and other social media outlets. From time to time, I’ll also post random side projects that I find amusing, like the Turdblasters! game.

About Me

My name is Ben Litwack and I currently possess the following certifications, all from the state of California:

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V
Water Distribution Operator Grade D2
Water Treatment Plant Operator Grade T2

I started my career in water/wastewater treatment in February of 2021 as an operator-in-training (OIT) at the ripe old age of 37. In a little over 3 years I eventually became a Public Works Manager for a medium sized city at a pay rate 3 times what I started at in 2021. My story isn’t typical but it does go to show that it is possible to rise relatively quickly in this industry if you’re willing to put in the hard work, both in the field and in the books, as you prepare for your certification exams.
